Alumni reunion 2025 – a reunion full of memories and prospects
Old stories, new ideas, and lots of happy reunions: On September 12, 2025, over 150 alumni of the Chair of Agricultural Systems Engineering and its predecessor institutions gathered at their alma mater for a reunion of graduates and staff.
The afternoon began with a series of lectures in the historic Lichtenheldt lecture hall. Chair holder Prof. Thomas Herlitzius provided exciting insights into current research topics and also remembered Prof. Rudolf Soucek, who passed away in 2024 and was well known to many from their student days.
The future was not neglected either: Prof. Thorsten Schmidt, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, presented the latest developments in mechanical engineering and the orientation of mechanical engineering studies. Afterwards, Dr.-Ing. Juliane Steingroewer presented the future concept of the Institute of Natural Materials Technology – a look ahead that showed how research and innovation will continue to go hand in hand in the coming years.
After so much input, it was time for the cozy part: during dinner together, there was laughter, discussion, and many memories of student days were brought back to life.
And best of all, the next reunion is already set! In 2028, we will celebrate the alumni meeting together with the 75th anniversary of the professorship – a date that should be marked in calendars now.
