Aim
The FuPul project is pursuing the continuous production of wooden profiles. To this end, LIGNOA Leichtbau GmbH and TU Dresden (Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology and Chair of Wood Technology and Fiber Materials Technology) have joined forces. A process is being developed with which veneers are continuously processed from rolls in a modified extrusion process (pultrusion) into multilayer composites with a plywood structure. The process enables high productivity and the production of virtually any profile length. The core areas of development are continuous shaping, mold design, continuous pressing and profile finishing. The resulting wooden profiles can replace plastics or energy-intensive metals (pipes, channels, trim strips), but there is also the potential to replace structural components made of aluminum and carbon.
