Turning old into new - Automated assembly of used workwear

In a new innovation project, we are addressing a central question of the circular textile economy:

" How can used workwear be automatically processed into new products without losing the textile surface? "

The approach: instead of shredding textiles, the existing surface is preserved. With the help of modern image processing and AI-supported analysis, defects are to be detected, usable zones evaluated and then new cut parts automatically placed and cut out.

The aim is to create a scalable, resource-saving and economical solution to create high-quality secondary products from discarded workwear - a step towards a genuine circular economy in the textile sector.

The project is funded by the State Innovation Scholarship of the Free State of Saxony.
