Team
The RCCF team consists of the four research units spinning technology, carbonisation, interface as well as diagnostics and modelling. The interdisciplinary team of scientists is working together on the development of tailored carbon fibres, taking into account the entire development chain from fundamental science to the application.
The RCCF team
The RCCF scientists are investigating the interactions between process parameters, fibre structure and other mechanical, thermal and electrical properties in the manufacture of carbon fibres in order to further enhance the capabilities of this high-tech material. In addition, the researchers are focusing on the development of multifunctional fibers with novel property profiles, such as high conductivity at high strength or pronounced ductility, as well as the use of renewable precursors.
Another focus of the RCCF activities is the comprehensive student education in the field of carbon fibre production. Students are given solid knowledge in the production and further processing of carbon fibres so that they are available to the labour markets in this field of future technologies. About 15 students per year will be involved in research areas such as process management, modelling and monitoring as well as the development, production and characterisation of new carbon fibres and composites.
