"Drawing and experimenting in product design" - enrolment now open for the preparatory course for design studies at TU Dresden
It has been possible to enrol in the compulsory elective modules since September 15. In the winter semester, the Chair of Industrial Design Engineering is once again offering the module "Drawing and Experimentation in Product Design". It is aimed at students of industrial engineering and general and constructive mechanical engineering. It serves as a preparatory course for the professional industrial design profile line. The module teaches the basic requirements for freehand drawing and iterative "design problem solving" and provides insights into the breadth of project-based and research-oriented design training at TU Dresden.
The module consists of
- a series of lectures providing an overview of key topics in design education and design research at TU Dresden;
- a practical design project in which students work in groups to iteratively develop, test and prototype the redesign of a design classic using sustainable circular economy strategies;
- teaching the essential basics of perspective freehand drawing as one of the most important tools for designing and creating products and technical systems.
The module takes place regularly during the lecture period, always on Mondays from 11:10 am.
