Industrial Design Collection
The Industrial Design Collection comprises about 100 sculptures of various materials constructed for instruction in design fundamentals from 1960 until the present. In addition, there are about 50 print and colour studies for theoretical and applied assignments. The oldest objects in the collection date back to the educational program of Rudi Högner (1907–1995). There are several designs for medals or decorative materials and teaching materials by Högner himself related to the first classes for the training of designers. The second part of the collection consists of over 100 models of applied design projects which have been acquired since then, mostly from the 1980s/90s to the present day. The automotive and aircraft designs particularly stand out as do the alternative mobility concepts, both from the GDR and the early post-reunification period. The items, which were used as individual teaching objects, were added to the collection in 2010, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Chair of Industrial Design.
