Fifth anniversary of commitment against gender-based violence
The Bremen bronze sculpture "Youth" by artist Bernhard Hoetger shows three female figures in front of a brick wall in Bremen, the middle one with gleaming breasts as a visible trace of countless touches.
On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25, TU Dresden's CulTure Magazine looks back on five years of dedicated work by the Complaints Office for Harassment, Discrimination and Violence. The office, which was commissioned in 2020, stands for a continuous commitment to supporting those affected and initiating structural changes.
With formats such as Bringing in the BYSTANDER™, workshops on (digital) self-defense and regular awareness-raising events, TU Dresden focuses on prevention, education and empowerment.
Anja Wiede, contact person at the complaints office, emphasizes in an interview that discrimination and border violations can only be effectively countered if they are made visible and understood as a joint task.
Rector Staudinger and Vice-Rector Kobel stand in front of the rectorate illuminated in orange. By doing so, the rectorate joins Orange the Day to raise awareness of violence against women.
TU Dresden has been participating in the International Day of Action for the Elimination of Violence against Womensince 2021. For this purpose, the University Executive Board was lit up in orange in the spirit of the "Orange the world" campaign.
