Dr. Future – Medical technology from Dresden ScienceResearchers close up - with Enrik Geißler and Richard Frank Richter
Who am I?
My name is Enrik Geißler. I am currently in the last year of my medical studies at the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine at TU Dresden.
Where do I work?
I work as a student assistant in the NGScopes working group at the Else Kröner Fresenius Centre for Digital Health (EKFZ). I am also active in the research group for minimally invasive surgery at the Clinic for Visceral, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery.
What am I working on?
My main focus is on the evaluation of training formats for minimally invasive surgery. I also support the clinical testing of new instruments and techniques developed by our engineers.
What can you talk to me about?
You can talk to me about topics such as minimally invasive surgery and interventional endoscopy, in particular modern and tissue-sparing surgical techniques.
Who am I?
My name is Richard Frank Richter. I studied materials science in Dresden and am currently a doctoral student at the Faculty of Medicine at TU Dresden.
Where do I work?
I work at the Centre for Translational Bone, Joint and Soft Tissue Research - a scientific institution of the University Hospital Dresden and the Medical Faculty of the TU Dresden.
What do I work on?
I am generally involved in the development and characterisation of biomaterials, i.e. materials that are to be used in the human body. My main areas are calcium phosphate cements and bioactive glasses, both of which are bone replacement materials designed to help the body rebuild bone tissue and can/should also fulfil other functions, such as acting as a transport system for drugs or growth factors.
What can you talk to me about?
Of course about our contribution to the COSMO exhibition itself, specifically 3D printing for regenerative medicine, but generally also about the entire spectrum of research and the work of our institute.
What is ‘Researchers close up’ about?
The dialogue format: ‘Researchers close up’ gives you the opportunity not only to explore the exhibitions at COSMO, but also to make direct contact with researchers.
You are cordially invited to drop by COSMO during regular opening hours and talk to us. Feel free to ask questions about the exhibits in the current exhibition and share your own ideas and thoughts!
