INTERNATIONALIZATION STRATEGY
Embracing internationality is a matter of course for the majority of staff members at TU Dresden’s School of Medicine. Their international networks are excellent, and they consider the exchange with international colleagues to be enriching and of utmost importance in order to achieve research results at the highest level. All of these activities are a valuable contribution to the internationalization of our school and the university itself. By implementing an internationalization strategy, we would like to further optimize our structures and processes and use our resources in a more focused and effective way.
Considering the various members of our school, we pursue the following goals:
- Increasing the number of exchange opportunities according to our students’ needs
- Offering more courses taught in English
- Improving the support for international students
- Supporting international joint research projects, sharing expertise and resources
- Intensifying international exchange and stimulating collaborations across disciplines
- Increasing the international visibility of the science city Dresden
- Internationalizing the doctoral phase by establishing joint PhD programs
- Creating a vibrant international campus serving the needs of an international and diverse research community
- Understanding internationality as a matter of course
- Offering a comprehensive service and welcome culture allowing a smooth integration of scientists from all over the world
- Exchanging expertise with colleagues from partner universities worldwide
- Continuously improving internal structures to allow on-going evaluation, reflection and development
- Working towards a more international composition among academic staff
- Improving on translating scientific findings into society
By implementing our international strategy, we aim at:
- Attracting and retaining talents from all over the world
- Promoting a strong network across disciplines
- Offering a renowned and attractive science location with excellent research infrastructure
- Building an international campus serving the needs of a rich and diverse research community
The impact on the society:
An international community on campus has an enormously positive effect on the entire community. The School of Medicine contributes to the cosmopolitan science location of Dresden and takes a tough stance against any form of discrimination and racism. The citizens of Dresden benefit from the translation of outstanding scientific research results and the excellent medical care that we are able to provide everyday thanks to our international orientation.
