Translating ideas into the market
Life science scientists from 14 countries have come together at TU Dresden to delve deeply into technology transfer. Already for the fifth time TU Dresden’s School of Medicine is hosting the International Summer School on Technology Transfer in Life Sciences. The practise-oriented approach allows participants to develop their own potential ideas and technologies towards commercialisation. During the week, they gain knowledge on technology transfer from experts in the fields of technology evaluation, patenting, licensing, and spin-off development and workshop on their ideas. On the last day, all projects developed during the week will receive feedback on their pitch by a tech transfer expert jury.
„It is great to have a practical approach to the industry, this is entirely new,” states Jacob Andersson from Flinders University Australia and Silvio Weber from TU Dresden, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology adds: „I’m deeply impressed by the inspiring atmosphere at the summer school. A diverse mixture of open-minded and highly innovative scientists are learning from and working with renowned and successful experts from all fields of technology transfer. What a learning curve in just one week! It would be really great to have follow-up "innovation days" once a month to keep this entrepreneurial spirit ongoing. “
The International Summer School on Technology Transfer in Life Sciences is part of the Institutional Strategy of TU Dresden, funded by the Excellence Initiative of the German Federal and State Governments.
