IMEX - International Medical Educators eXchange program
Since 2025, the Faculty of Medicine at TU Dresden has been part of the International Medical Educators eXchange Programme (IMEX). IMEX was launched in 2006 as an initiative by medical faculties in Europe and Canada. The aim is to offer experienced lecturers at medical faculties an international perspective on medical education.
Once or twice a year, an IMEX week is organised, covering all locations. Engaging programmes, featuring seminars, presentations, informal discussions and observations of teaching sessions, highlight both local characteristics of medical education and more general topics and contributions from all participating institutions.
What the programme offers participants:
- The international atmosphere in medical training provides a broader perspective and inspiration for one’s own teaching.
- You can forge valuable contacts and perhaps even collaborate with colleagues from other countries.
- You can exchange ideas with people from other institutions who share similar interests.
The participating medical faculties, alongside Dresden, are:
- Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden.
- University of Bern, Switzerland
- University of Illinois, Chicago, USA
- Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine, Pasadena, USA
- UNSW in Sydney, Australia
- Taipei Medical University, Taiwan
- KwaZulu-Natal University, South Africa
The provisional schedule for the site visits is as follows:
- 8–13 November 2026: Dresden
- May 2027: Stockholm
- October 2027: Sydney
- April/May 2028: Taiwan
- October 2028: KwaZulu-Natal
