Paediatric network for the care and research of post-acute consequences of COVID-19, similar post-acute infection and vaccination syndromes and ME/CFS in children and adolescents
Project duration
01.12.2024 - 31.12.2028
Project content
The PEDNET-LC project aims to sustainably improve the care and research of post-acute disease consequences in children and adolescents. The focus is on long COVID, myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) and comparable post-infectious or post-vaccinal syndromes. In order to enable quality-assured and comprehensive care, regional and supra-regional care networks will be established as part of the project, which will work closely with paediatric specialist centres, GPs and paediatricians as well as other care facilities.
In addition, the structured collection of medical and care-relevant data plays a central role. By using standardised documentation and digital infrastructures, the aim is to gain insights into disease progression, treatment effects and care needs. This data will be incorporated into scientific analyses in order to develop evidence-based recommendations for diagnosis and treatment. PEDNET-LC thus makes an important contribution to improving healthcare for young people with long-lasting consequences of COVID-19 and similar diseases.
