Preventive Health Services Research

Contents in this research section
Preventive health services research focuses on direct (behavioral) and indirect (structural) prevention of disease in the population. Based on theories of health psychology as well as empirical studies on the interaction of psychological, social, and behavioral determinants of health, individualized prevention measures are developed that can be used in different population care settings. Computer-based prevention offers immense potential for interaction and provides consistent and reliable care at relatively low cost, even for large and diverse target groups. A particular focus of the research area is the prevention of alcohol consumption in the population (see TUCAN project) and the investigation of the reasons for uptake of colorectal cancer screening.
