DZD Awards for two young PLID scientists
Every year, the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) honors ten young researchers with an Outstanding Young Investigator Award. The internal award recognizes scientific results from basic or clinical research that are presented in the form of a poster or a lecture at a diabetes conference.
Two young scientists from the Paul Langerhans Institute are among the winners of the annual award. The award ceremony took place during the recently concluded DZD workshop at the DDZ in Düsseldorf.
Carolin Heller from the Ludwig lab is interested in developing innovative solutions in the field of biomedical engineering, with a focus on improving islet transplantation techniques for the treatment of diabetes. Watch her inspiring video portrait containing a brief overview of her project here:
Lisa-Marie Kretschmar is working in the group of Michele Solimena where she is investigating the insulin degrading enzyme (IDE), a susceptibility gene for type 2 diabetes. Also Lisa recorded a short video, in which she introduces her project in a nutshell. You can reach it via this link:
Congratulations to both of you!
