The Dresden University of Medicine Campus
The Dresden University of Medicine campus is located in the Johannstadt district of Dresden. Our faculty’s facilities are situated on the grounds of Dresden University Hospital and are easily accessible by public transportation or bicycle. On the University of Dresden Medical School campus, you’ll also find a branch of the library (SLUB), the faculty’s administrative building, a cafeteria, and, of course, student housing. Content and Structure of the Program
The program is based on the regulations for medical licensure and is divided into three sections: In the first (preclinical) section, students learn the fundamentals of the natural sciences and medicine. It lasts 4 semesters and concludes with the first part of the medical licensing exam (Physikum). Additional admission requirements include first-aid training and a three-month nursing internship. The second (clinical) phase of the program spans six semesters (including four-month clinical rotations) and concludes with the second part of the medical licensing exam. The practical year is the final year of study. It covers the specialties of surgery, internal medicine, and general medicine, or a clinical elective. Upon passing the third part of the medical examination, the medical degree program is completed after 6 years and 3 months.

Legal Basis for the Medical Degree Program
The legal basis consists of the regulations of TU Dresden, the study regulations for the medical degree program, and the Medical Licensing Regulations (ÄApprO).
The Study Regulations for the Medicine degree program dated May 26, 2010, were published in the Official Announcements of TUD on June 16, 2010. They have thus been in force and legally valid since June 17, 2010.

Successful completion of the medical degree program is typically followed by specialty training. In any case, graduates have a wide range of opportunities to pursue their careers in private practice or as employees, for example, in hospitals operated by various organizations, in the public health service, in Occupational Health Services, at universities, and in research institutions.
