HERBARIUM

The Herbarium Dresdense contains the most extensive collection of dried plant specimens in Saxony. It contains approx. 350,000 specimens, the oldest dating back to the 18th century, from Saxony and all over the world.

THE BOTANICAL GARDEN

Around 10,000 plant species from all over the world thrive on an area of 3.25 hectares at the edge of the "Great Garden", near the historic city centre.

Das Interesse an der Gestalt der Pflanze eint interessierte Laien und Wissenschaftler. In der Zeichnung lassen sich sowohl die Schönheit der Pflanze, als auch botanische Aspekte zeigen. Nach der Natur erfasste Zeichnungen helfen in Bestimmungsschlüsseln oder illustrieren populärwissenschaftliche Beiträge.

In addition to the research infrastructure in the biology building of TU Dresden, the chair also oversees the Herbarium Dresdense and is closely associated with the Botanical Garden in the city centre for research and teaching activities.
