Botanical garden and collections
Botanical Garden
In the heart of the city, the Botanical Garden Dresden invites you to discover the world of plants. About 10,000 plant species grow on the grounds on the edge of the Great Garden - the largest and oldest inner-city park.
Herbarium
In the herbarium, collected plant material is prepared and herbarized. The herbarium specimens are kept for centuries and lent to other botanical institutions. They are used for research on taxonomic, plant geographic, historical and conservation issues as well as for education in biology studies.
Zoological Collections
The collection is primarily used for practical training in the subjects of biology and biotechnology, but is also used by physicians and landscape architects as illustrative material. The collection consists mainly of skeletons, liquid and dry preparations, histological preparations, molluscs, arachnids and crustaceans, worms and ray eaters, insects, as well as extensive map material and some plaster models.
