Within the Institute, a wide variety of modern aspects from the field of microbiology are investigated. Research topics include biotechnology, microbial physiology, gene regulation and signal transduction, protein engineering, systems and synthetic biology. The organisms under investigation reflect the diversity of microbial life on earth and range from classical model bacteria, to archaea and yeasts.
