Seminar & Essay "Bioanalytics"
Dear Biochemistry master students,
please, in OPAL you find 13 topics for literature essays. Please, identify one partner for your essay and seminar talk thus forming groups of two students. You should then sign up for the desired topic.
The Enrollment will start on April 17, 2023 at 9 o'clock (OPAL)
The literature essay should be based on a research of recent international literature. Please, describe the state-of-the-art in an educational fashion. The length of your essay should be around 10-15 pages. Make sure not to exceed a maximum of 20 pages!
You should then prepare a seminar talk of ca. 20-25 minutes. Both of you should thus speak between 10-15 minutes. These seminars will take place in June / July 2022, exact dates will be announced later.
Best regards

The seminar consists of two parts: (i) Writing an essay (≈ 10-15 pages DIN A4; correct literature references) about a chosen topic (see below) in teams of 2 students and (ii) Presenting the researched topic in a presentation of 20-25 min on Zoom (see below for Zoom details). The essays have to be handed in by email to Subject: Essay bioanalytics topic XYZ until 27 June 2023 midnight (CET).
The idea of the essay is that you learn to perform literature research and summary on your own. You can structure your essay like a review article. Give a brief introduction to the topic and the major questions and why this is interesting. Then present approaches to answer this question. We will not provide you with material for the essay. However, if you run into major problems you are welcome to contact the direct supervisors. The idea of the talks is that you present in 20-25 min your background research and bioanalytical technique to your fellows. The seminar will be from 13.00h to max 14.30h either in presence or on Zoom. Not only the speakers but all participants of this module shall attend.
