Teaching
Upcoming
In the summer semester 2024, I will teach an introductory course on locally compact groups. Here is the planned outline:
- Crash course on the necessary background from topology
- Topological groups
- How to split up a locally compact group into a connected and a totaly disconnected group
- Connected groups: The Gleason-Yamabe theorem, the Lie group - Lie algebra correspondence
- Totally disconnected groups: Van Dantzig's theorem, profinite groups, groups acting on graphs
Past
Winter 2023/2024: I taught the course Discrete Structures for 1st semester students in computer science. Here is the course webpage.
Autumn 2022: Lecture on large scale geometry of groups at UCLouvain. Here is the course webpage.
Spring 2019: Lecture on totally disconnected, locally compact groups at ETH Zurich. Here is the course webpage.
In December 2020, I gave a mini-course about Cayley-Abels graphs at the CIB-EPFL "Locally compact groups acting on discrete structures - WinSum School" (online). Link to the videos: Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V. Also here are lecture notes with a survey on the topic.
