ICBS presents Prof. Dr. Andreas Thom and Prof. Dr. Hanfeng Li with the Frontiers of Science Award
A paper by Hanfeng Li (Suny University At Buffalo, New York) and Andreas Thom (TU Dresden) will be honored in Beijing as part of the Frontiers of Science Awards, presented by the International Congress for Basic Science.
The joint paper "Entropy, determinants, and L2-torsion" (published in 2014 in the Journal of the American Mathematical Society) was awarded for its excellence and outstanding scientific value in the field of functional analysis and operator theory. Scientists in the field had previously evaluated and accepted this work by the two scientists, which had made an important impact on the field.
The ICBS will be held in Beijing from July 14 to 16, 2024 to honor scientific achievements in the past 10 years in the basic sciences of mathematics, theoretical physics, theoretical computer and information science. The aim of this award is to encourage young scientists to push the boundaries of basic research, set goals to achieve breakthrough results as early as possible, and contribute to the exploration of the natural sciences.
