Competing and coexisting phases in iron pnictides and other multiorbital systems
Multiband and multiorbital physics is crucial for understanding superconductivity and magnetism in iron pnictides. We have studied competing spin-density-wave (SDW) phases and the coexistence of SDW and superconductivity within a simplified two-band model. In addition, several orbital models were studied with regard to the doping dependence of the magnetic transition temperature T_N and of the type of SDW order setting in at T_N. We plan to extend this work by employing realistic multiorbital models to study the coexistence and competition of SDW and superconductivity and the newly discovered tetragonal magnetic phase in (Ba,K)Fe_2As_2. Comparison with our previous work will allow us to elucidate the role played by orbital effects. Hund's rule coupling is also crucial ("Hund metals") and will be included. We will also compare to other multiorbital systems.
