First-Semester Orientation by the Student Council
Welcome to TU Dresden! We’re excited to support you - our new first-year students - through two exciting and varied orientation weeks (ESE) as you begin your studies. This year, the ESE will take place from September 29 to October 13, 2025. You will find all the latest information about the events, possible registration, and the link to the first-year WhatsApp group on our website.
This offer is, of course, also open to students in teaching degree programs as well as new Master’s students! Some events will feature dedicated Master’s groups. All events are funded by the Student Council and are completely free of charge for you. Please check our website for more detailed information. Want to learn more about studying at TU Dresden before the semester starts? Feel free to get in touch with us – or just drop by our office!
We look forward to meeting you and starting this exciting chapter together!
We are glad you’ve found your way to this page – whether you’re just starting your physics degree at TU Dresden or are simply browsing out of curiosity.
First, a quick introduction:
We are the Physics Student Council (Fachschaftsrat Physik) – a group of elected and associated members (all physics students ourselves) who represent the interests of all physics students at TU Dresden. We’re your first point of contact for questions, concerns, or problems related to your studies.
Throughout the semester, we also organize various events – some to support you academically, others to help you connect and unwind. These include barbecues, academic colloquia, and of course, the First-Semester Introduction Weeks (ESE).
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to us – via email at , phone +49 351 463-34788 or on Instagram at @pfsr_tud.
Why should you definitely take part in the ESE?
Beyond the obvious reason – that it is a lot of fun – the ESE is a great opportunity to meet many bright, like-minded people who are just starting out, just like you. Many long-lasting friendships begin here.
Studying physics at TU Dresden involves weekly lectures, problem sets, group tutorials, lab courses, and more. It is a demanding program, and both the workload and difficulty level can be quite intense – especially if you try to tackle it all on your own. That is why building a strong support network and looking out for one another is so important. You are not alone – we have all been there.
The ESE gives you the chance to get to know your future classmates, share questions, worries, and hopes, and prepare for your studies in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
We are really looking forward to meeting you!
See you soon,
Your Physics Student Council
