Subsidized slots at TUDIAS Preparatory College in Dresden
for graduates of PASCH schools
Who is eligible to receive financial support? Graduates of PASCH schools (German international schools, schools offering the German Language Certificate (DSD) with a secondary school diploma that is not recognized for university qualification in Germany and thus requires attendance of a preparatory college prior to starting studies.
What is coverd by the funding? Financing of the course fees at TUDIAS Preparatory College Dresden for the regular duration, i.e. for 2 semesters
Subsidized slots are made available annually by the Association of Friends and Sponsors of TU Dresden (GFF - Gesellschaft von Freunden und Förderern der TU Dresden e. V.). In the case of subsidized slots, the course costs are covered by the TU Dresden, which normally have to be paid at the state-approved fee-based TUDIAS Studienkolleg in Dresden.
Prerequisites for financial support:
- Interest in studying at TU Dresden (degree program in technology, mathematics, science, economics or social sciences); Study Information System of TU Dresden
- Chances of receiving financial support are low for degree programs in medicine. Financial support is not possible for degree programs in humanities, languages/linguistics or art.
- Participation in the central admission test offered by the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA) at ZfA’s partner schools in about 40 countries (registration with the responsible advisor for German at your school)
- ZfA admission test on October 6, 2023: Preparatory college attendance starting in the 2024 summer semester (March 2024 – February 2025 participation in the preparatory college, April 2025 - September 2025 orientation semester for study preparation, start of your studies/degree program in October 2025), Please note: In order to bridge the gap until the start of your studies/degree program, you can be enrolled in an orientation semester for study preparation at TU Dresden. During this semester, you can improve your German language skills by attending free language courses and lectures of your degree program with the aim of orientation and preparation for studies.
- ZfA admission test in March 2024 (date will be announced soon): Preparatory college attendance starting in the 2024/2025 winter semester (September 2024 – July 2025)
- When registering for the ZfA admission test: Indicate TUDIAS Preparatory College as your first or second priority
Application:
An application for financial support is not required. After the ZfA admission test has been taken, ZfA will forward the results to TUDIAS Preparatory College and TU Dresden’s International Office will notify you of possible financial support as well as the required application for a degree program (6 weeks after the ZfA admission test at the latest).
Subsidized slots selection procedure:
Since the number of applicants is expected to exceed the number of subsidized slots the subsidized slots will be granted after admissions to study at TU Dresden close (summer semester 2024: January 15, 2024), on the basis of a ranking of all applicants.
The International Office of the TU Dresden will rank the applicants according to their average grade and, if necessary, other criteria depending on the number of applicants. The acceptance for a place at the Studienkolleg is independent of the confirmation of funding for the financing of the course fees (self-financing is possible). The subsidized slots (financing of the course fees by TU Dresden) are preferentially awarded to applicants for admission-free study programs (study programs without admission restrictions / NC-free study programs).
