MINT-EC Schools
Dear teachers and pupils,
TU Dresden strives to financially support pupils interested in STEM subjects (“MINT” in German) and has thus been part of the MINT-EC network for many years.
The point of contact for schools at TU Dresden offers regular (digital) events for pupils. School pupils also have the opportunity to receive a MINT-EC scholarship from TU Dresden. We invite teachers from MINT-EC schools in Saxony to TU Dresden twice a year to exchange knowledge and experiences. You can find all the information about our services and programs in the info boxes below.
Do you have questions or requests? Please contact us – we look forward to hearing from you.
First-year students can also apply for the STEM scholarship in the 2024/25 winter semester. The deadline is July 15. More information will follow in April.
Konrad, a 2021/22 STEM scholarship holder, knows firsthand about the benefits of this program.
These are the proud 2019/2020 scholarship holders. Their scholarship from the Association of Friends and Sponsors of TU Dresden grants them €300 per month in the first academic year. All scholarship holders began their studies at TU Dresden in October 2019 in a STEM subject (science, technology, engineering or mathematics – MINT in German) after having graduated from a MINT-EC school.
In the 2024/2025 academic year, the Association of Friends and Sponsors of TU Dresden will award another 13 scholarships to new students beginning their studies in a STEM subject at TU Dresden.
How to apply
The TUD STEM series continues! Academics and scholars at TU Dresden discuss their current research.
The stuff that dreams are made of – what we can learn from nature & how technology can transform materials and improve our world
Date: November 3 – December 1, 2022, each Thursday from 4:30 – 6:00 pm
Registration: September 26 – October 23, 2022, from 12:00 am
Target group: For all pupils aged 16 and above.
Imagine a world where CO2 emissions can be harnessed and used as a carbon source; a world where catastrophic oil spillages can be wiped away with bacteria sponges; where cooler bags are no longer made from plastic, but rather fully recyclable waste paper. Imagine that this world already exists! In November, STEM digital will feature researchers from TU Dresden’s Institute for Process Engineering and Natural Materials Technology who will take time once a week to show us how the key to revolutionizing industrial production lies in the creative use of chemical compound conversion processes. In five consecutive sessions, you will get a lively and interactive look into various research topics.
This is an online event. We recommend having a microphone on hand so you can actively participate. You will find a full program soon on the MINT-EC website.
If all prerequisites are met, TU Dresden will issue a certificate of participation and 5 MINT-EC points.
Meeting of Saxony’s MINT-EC schools at TU Dresden
Twice a year, we cordially invite you to TU Dresden to learn about what research we are conducting and find out what degree programs and projects are open to MINT-EC pupils.
On March 8, 2022 from 3:00 pm, the meeting will begin, focusing on quantum materials. The researchers involved in ct.qmat – Complexity and Topology in Quantum Matter at TU Dresden and JMU Würzburg would be glad to welcome you to Showcases of Research at the Technische Sammlungen Museum. The scientists are researching how components will be able to conduct electricity without loss and store gigantic amounts of information in the future. Alongside a fascinating tour of the Showcases of Research, you will get a glimpse into how quantum physics can be incorporated into your curriculum. Please register for the event beforehand.
