On Saturday, July 11, 2026, the new Regional Office for Teacher Education at the TUD Dresden University of Technology was officially opened as part of the science festival“OHA! – Oberlausitz Knows Its Stuff!” The event, held at the market square in Zittau, provided an opportunity to present the regional office’s goals and programs. As a central hub, the “TUD | ZLSB regional” Regional Office for Teacher Education facilitates networking among universities, schools, training centers, and other educational institutions. The TUD School Contact Office plans to organize events and professional development programs for schools in Upper Lusatia in collaboration with the Teacher Academy and the Regional Office for Teacher Education at the Center for Teacher Education, School, and Vocational Education Research (ZLSB). For example, joint planning is currently underway for the Cooperation School Meeting and the Good Practice Day, which promote exchange between schools and educational stakeholders. At the same time, through the Regional Office for Teacher Education, the School Contact Office can expand its activities in the region and increase its visibility among schools in Upper Lusatia to raise awareness of its offerings and networking opportunities.
Strong Synergies Between the School Contact Office, the Teacher Academy, and the Regional Office for Teacher Education
The close collaboration between the Regional Office for Teacher Education and the Teacher Academy with the School Contact Office at TU Dresden creates synergies for developing tailored programs for schools. The School Liaison Office will play a key role in this effort by reaching out to schools in the region in a targeted manner and assisting with the planning and facilitation of school-based professional development programs, such as in-school training. The focus will also be on the (further) development of formats tailored to the needs of young people. “We want to not only support schools in Upper Lusatia with our programs, but also actively help integrate them into the exchange with the university,” explains Nadja Bauer from the School Contact Office. The opening of the regional office and the School Contact Office’s increased presence in Upper Lusatia are a major asset for the region and the educational landscape. Together with the Teacher Academy and the regional office, the School Contact Office aims to help strengthen the quality of local education and further expand collaboration between schools and TU Dresden. The School Contact Office invites all schools in Upper Lusatia to contact the School Liaison Office, the Teachers’ Academy, and the Regional Office for Teacher Education at TU Dresden with their needs and requests.
