Admission requirements
Prerequisite is a diploma (Diplom) or Bachelor's degree of a university (or university of applied sciences) in the fields of Engineering, Computer science, Geography, Geodesy, Physics or Mathematics or an equivalent or higher degree.
German language requirements
International applicants and German applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification are kindly advised to read the requirements for German-language courses.
Notes on the application process
If, at the time of application, proof of the first degree qualifying the applicant for a profession is not yet available, the application will be considered under the precondition that 80% of the credit points attainable for the degree have already been achieved based on completed module examinations or the final thesis and the colloquium (if applicable). A certification from the awarding institute of higher education (examination office) serves as proof of the above-mentioned academic achievements. General information about the degree program
The programme provides students the ability to identify and frame technical and operational problems of railway and urban public transport systems, to analyse them scientifically and to develop suitable solutions. The interdisciplinary design of the programme allow students to identify and focus system dependencies relevant for an optimal result.
In the first part of the studies students take compulsory courses covering the basics of Guided Transport Engineering such as Railway Infrastructure, Railway Operation and Control, Railway Vehicles als well as Project Management and others. In the second part students choose one elective subject area in order to specialise in one of the four following fields:
A) Railway Infrastructure
B) Railway Signaling and Telematics
C) Railway Operation
D) Urban Public Transport.
