Admission requirements
Prerequisite:
• a university degree in Forestry,
• good knowledge of English and
• a proof of particular aptitude according to the Rules of Procedure for the Aptitude Test (Eignungsfeststellungsordnung).
Aptitude assessment procedure
The participation in an aptitude assessment or selection procedure is a prerequisite for enrollment in this degree program. Please note that the deadline for submitting an application may be earlier than the application deadlines for the degree program (see above under application deadlines). German language requirements
International applicants and German applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification are kindly advised to read the requirements for German-language courses.
Notes on the application process
If, at the time of application, proof of the first degree qualifying the applicant for a profession is not yet available, the application will be considered under the precondition that 80% of the credit points attainable for the degree have already been achieved based on completed module examinations or the final thesis and the colloquium (if applicable). A certification from the awarding institute of higher education (examination office) serves as proof of the above-mentioned academic achievements. General information about the degree program
The master programme in Forestry is a complex and interdisciplinary course of study. It is dealing with forest ecosystems in general, as well as with their management and connections to the environment on a wider scale.
Students acquire methodical skills and capabilities and research-oriented knowledge. Graduates will be able to develop ideas and concepts for handling the manifold demands of society towards forests (e.g. biodiversity, timber, bioenergy, protection of soil and water, recreation).
The programme imparts competences in sustainable management of forest enterprises, the forest as a natural resource, the utilisation of the wood as a natural resource, and the treatment of both forests and wood.
Students choose a profile area from the fields:
- Management of Forest Resources,
- Biodiversity and Organisms or
- Forest-Environmental Systems in Change.
During the course of study, tutorials, internships and field trips, according to the chosen area, will contribute to educational progress.
