Vocational training

Technische Universität Dresden (“TU Dresden”) is a place of learning, teaching and research. It is one of the largest universities of its type in Germany and bears the title of “University of Excellence.” There are only 11 universities with this title in the whole country. “Excellence” is an accolade for the research that has been conducted thus far and the university’s plans for the future. TU Dresden is home to more than 40,000 students and employees in its various areas and disciplines. However, TU Dresden is more than just a place for study and research. The university also provides training in 16 vocations at the intersection between science, economy and society. 

Training at TU Dresden unites research and application. Many employees from non-scientific fields help to test research topics in practice and ensure daily operations at the university. For instance, they may work in laboratories and workshops, administration or educational and central units.

Vocations at TU Dresden

TU Dresden’s vast range of vocations offers young people sound state-of-the art vocational training. The prerequisite for all vocations is at least a mid-level secondary education (Realschule/Oberschule) or comparable.
Our vocational training courses are also suitable for interested persons with a migration background if good German language skills (at least C1) are available and can be proven.

Programs and Application Deadline

The start of summer vacation marks the beginning of the application period to start vocational training in the following year. The first preliminary selection round will take place after October 15 and the second will take place after December 15. In general, applications can be submitted through April 30 of each training year. However, these can only be considered for free slots. Learn more
