Healthy Eating
Healthy eating is integral to an individual healthy lifestyle. Put simply, eating is an important part of life. Food provides the body with the energy and nutrients it needs to maintain vitality, physical and mental health, and productivity. In addition to this basic need, however, a certain attentiveness to one’s own body is required in order to be healthy, productive and to feel well - especially in today’s day and age. Healthy eating therefore means using the variety of staple foods available today to meet individual needs, having fun preparing them, and then enjoying the end product. Thus, healthy eating contributes considerably to the enjoyment of life.
In order to combine a balanced diet with everyday study and work life, the Studentenwerk Dresden promotes the following offers of the refectories and cafeterias within the catchment area of TU Dresden and other universities:
They serve as a place for get-togethers, for communication, and to provide a break from the daily grind of study and work. The routes to the refectories and cafeterias provide some much needed exercise and fresh air during the break.
An overview of all refectories and cafeterias within the catchment area of TU Dresden and other universities can be found on the website of the Studentenwerk.
The refectories and cafeterias of the Student Union Dresden offer a wide range of nutritious high-quality meals. With the set main meals, side dishes, pasta and salad counters (where you can help yourself), soups, snacks and deserts, and not forgetting the hot and cold drinks, a number of tastes and dietary requirements are catered to. The different recipes are inspired by regional and international cooking influences, while being further shaped through cooperations and exchanges at home and abroad.
The meal plan provides an overview of the daily offers at the different locations.
The Bio Mensa U-Boot welcomes anyone who prefers a purely organic diet or chooses to indulge in organic quality food from time to time. It is the first and so far the only refectory in Germany that offers exclusively organic food. This does not mean that the variety is lacking: two main meals (vegetarian/vegan or with meat), a colourful salad bar, hearty and sweet cakes and pastries, and a number of drink choices are on offer.
This meal plan provides an overview of the daily offers in the Bio Mensa U-Boot.
Whether omnivorous, flexitarian, vegetarian or vegan, the abundance of recipes and self-service counters leave almost nothing to be desired and are labelled accordingly (further information can be found under the tab “Labelling”).
The menu mensaVital has established itself in several refectories and offers special energy-optimised dishes.
