The emergence of the Green Office
After more than a year of work on the idea and the project development by the students' Green Office Initiative and with the support of the Department of Environmental Protection (Dezernat 4) and the Commission for the Environment, the Extended Rectorate could be convinced of the idea of a Green Office. Currently, a Green Office is being established as part of the Prorectorate for University Culture.
The goal of the initiative was to support the TUD in living up to its social role model function in the area of climate and environmental protection and to act as a multiplier. To this end, a contact point is to be created that collects, processes and communicates knowledge and information on ecological sustainability at TUD as a permanent part of the university. In addition, this contact point should offer actors in the field of ecological sustainability the opportunity to network and strengthen the exchange of knowledge between all university members. The basic idea of the Green Office serves as a model for this. It is a sustainability office jointly run by students and university employees, which will serve as a contact point for all members of the TUD university society with concerns about ecological sustainability. Through transfer and press work, the commitment in the field of ecological sustainability will be made visible and supported.
