The Saxon State Exhibition on Education for Sustainable Development gives you an overview of outstanding examples from Saxony in the six education areas of the Saxon State Strategy on BNE: Early Childhood Education, General Education, Higher Education, Vocational Education, Informal and Non-Formal Learning and Community.
Further information on the national exhibition can be found at: https://landesausstellung-bne-sachsen.de/
Opening of the exhibition: 19.06.2023, 10.30 am on Mommsenstr. in front of the Old Mensa
Parallel to the Sustainability Week, the participation party is taking place on Mommsenstraße in front of the Alte Mensa, organised by the TU Environment Initiative (tuuwi). To show what a lively campus can look like without cars, the area in front of the Alte Mensa will be filled with a diverse range of arts, music and sports and will be temporarily covered in greenery.
You have never ridden a cargo bike and/or would like to try our tuuwi cargo bike model? Then you can test the cargo bike every day from 10 am - 6.30 pm. It can be rented for a test drive!
You can find out more on the tuuwi website.
The Green Office is looking for plates and cutlery. We want to increase the number of tableware rental on campus. 50 donated plates and cutlery are already donated by FSR Physik. We want to increase the stock to 100 plates and cutlery. Do you have undamaged plates, knives, fork or spoons looking for a new home? Then feel free to give it to the Green Office cargo bike on Mommsenstr. in front of the Alte Mensa.
Simply put it there. We are happy about every donation :)

We, the Alliance “Saxony must take in!” - a Saxony-wide alliance of associations, charitable associations, organisations and political youth associations, which is committed to a better migration policy in Saxony - are organizing an exhibition on the subject of admission programs. Together with University Culture and Prof. Michael Kobel, Vice-Rector of Education, we are planning an exhibition on this topic. In our asylum and residence law, reception programmes offer a great deal of potential to improve the conditions of refugees. In doing so, we want to provide general information, but we also want to give some space to refugees' impressions on this subject.

On 19.06. starting at 10. 30 am, three great projects will open: this year’s TU Sustainability Week, the Get involved - car free campus and the BNE National Exhibition. For this we have prepared a small one hour opening program, to which you are cordially invited!
In the travelling exhibition BNE, various saxon educational projects from different fields of education are presented - in the higher education sector, for example, projects from TU Dresden are represented. All projects focus on sustainability. As in previous years, the TU Sustainability Week offers a diverse programme to inform and participate in sustainability and mobility. The TUUWI Get involved party will offer many opportunities to use the square in front of Mommsenstraße for great activities and to discuss our mobility. The programme can be viewed on the website and will also be briefly presented at the opening event.
- a project on “Campus energy consumption reduction – Measures for energy optimization for a resource-conserving consumption development”.
Staff and students of the chair of building energy technology and heat supply invite us to learn about and discuss the topics surrounding energy efficiency measures on campus.
In the project, which has been running since 2019, different professorships and institutions of the TUD cooperate to analyse and evaluate measures and ideas for increasing energy efficiency on campus on a scientific basis:
> What is the energy consumption on campus?
> How and where can energy savings be made?
> What are the measurable effects of energy saving measures?
> What are the recommendations for action and how can their implementation be supported?
Place: Mommsenstraße, stand in front of the old Mensa

While climate change can only be significantly mitigated by those of us living today, future generations will be particularly affected by the dramatic consequences of our inaction. However, the ethical dimensions of our inaction are not easy for us to see, because the truly dramatic consequences are still in the future. In this workshop, therefore, we want to reverse the perspective: What will future people, severely affected by climate change, think about us living today? How will they judge our inaction morally? What ethical categories will they apply? How will they make a rhyme to their forefathers?
The workshop is aimed at all interested parties who want to exchange ideas on climate ethical issues in a lively and constructive environment.

Whether it's a party with your roommates, a theatre performance, a festival or grandma's 80s - parties and events are important for many of us. We want to have fun with each other, enjoy art and culture, and often do not consider sustainability issues in the planning and execution of our events. What needs electricity? How do we illuminate? How do we deal with waste and how does our transport logistics work? Using various examples, we will find out in this workshop which options there are to make celebrations and events more sustainable. Whether you are planning a festival with your friends, you would like to take a more critical look at the events you attend or are just interested in the topic - after the workshop you will know a little more about how to make partying more sustainable. And why this is so important.

If the household appliance no longer works or sewing work is needed, a visit to the RepairCafé can help now also on campus. This self-help workshop helps visitors to make the defective device functional again, under the guidance of technology-savvy volunteers.
The next RepairCafé will take place on the campus on 20 June at 5 - 7.30 pm. Any person who would like to receive free support and advice for their repair is welcome. This RepairCafé takes place as part of the regular repair events, which take place every 3rd Tuesday of the month in the SLUB Makerspace in the Drepunct Library (Zellescher Weg 17). Not only the volunteer employees of the RepairCafé Dresden/ Freital initiative, but also the employees of SLUB support with knowledge and equipment ranging from 3D printers to sewing machines.
In addition to repairing, however, the café character is also in the focus. Over coffee and cake, the visitors of the RepairCafés and the volunteers have the chance to talk to each other.

Biodiversity means the diversity of all life on Earth, of genes, species, ecosystems and their interactions on land, in freshwater, in the oceans and in the air. However, we are in the midst of a massive decline in biodiversity, incl. rapidly progressing species extinction. Since the first signs of increased species extinction in the 19th century, the decline in biodiversity has continued to worsen. According to the Global Risk Report 2023, biodiversity loss is considered to be the fourth-largest risk in the world over the next decade. This dynamic is one of the greatest challenges of our time, because the loss of biodiversity not only determines how, but whether we survive in the future.
Within the framework of the Environment Commission of the TUD, the working group “Biodiversity” works for the protection and preservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services at the TUD. All status groups are represented in our working group. In a participatory process, we design and carry out research and practical projects in which all interested students and staff can participate.
In the past, we have already carried out several projects in collaboration with several stakeholders: e. g. Department 4, Green Office, Tuuwi, Sächsische Aufbaubank, Chair of Environmental Management (IHI Zittau), including the creation of a flowering meadow on the campus (ZIN area), the action "Biodiversity in the Bag", in which the first-year students received bags of seeds of local and insect-friendly flowering plants in the spring of 2023, participation in the basic lecture on ecological sustainability. as well as the environmental lecture as well as the implementation of research activities on biodiversity management at universities.
We look forward to your interest and your participation in our working group! Feel free to come and talk to us!

Renegotiating the future, sustainability and energy security in history and present
Humanity finds itself in a climate catastrophe, which drives people to the streets for different reasons: Some consider current climate policy to be too careless and demand urgent improvements, while others categorically reject state interventions – especially in individual living conditions – and protest against a tightening of climate policy measures.
In addition to the seemingly temporary emergencies that made climate a “problem” in people’s daily lives (e. g. storms, floods, and forest fires), Russia’s war against Ukraine in the spring of 2022 was yet another crisis, whose profound international repercussions filled large sections of the population with concern, if not fear. But what strategies, explanations and answers do (international) climate governance and climate diplomacy now have in place to link security and environmental sustainability in a meaningful way?
The HAIT Colloquium in the summer semester 2023 offers an insight into current research on extremism, sustainability and contemporary history, which aims to contribute to a better understanding of the overlap between CLIMATE, CRISIS and SOCIETY(s). The aim is to take a look at the climate in the past and present in order to identify continuities and disruptions in dealing with climate and other disasters, to identify relevant actors and to illuminate climate discourses under different political, social or media conditions. It will also investigate the contribution political science and history can make to coping with and shaping a time of multidimensional (climate) crisis experiences.
Organized by Maren Hachmeister and Stefan Brieger
The colloquium will take place at 10:45 am online via Zoom and in person.
If you would like to participate, please register by Monday before the event (20.04 to 13.07.2023) at: hait@tu-dresden.de

Sustainability is becoming more and more the basis of business. In this workshop, you will learn about practical approaches based on example companies: We look at the company's operations, services and/or products and show where the levers for sustainability lie. This includes environmental, social and governance issues. We also look at how a transformation of the company works through a holistic sustainability strategy.
Here we learn for example about the potential for improvement in companies’ supply chains, learn about sustainability reports and get to know the arguments for more sustainable management. Techniques and processes are shown that enable companies to determine their current position in the field of sustainability, as well as goals and strategies to improve it. The workshop will give you an insight into the extent to which sustainability can be achieved in the economy at the company level and where you can make a positive contribution later on in your day-to-day work.

Organiser: United Nations University Institute for Integrated Management of Material Fluxes and of Resources (UNU-FLORES), Leibniz Institute for Ecological Spatial Development (IÖR), Technische Universität Dresden (TU Dresden). The DNCi is funded by the Saxon State Ministry for Energy, Climate Protection, Environment and Agriculture (SMEKUL). Concept note by Dr. Nora Adam (UNU-FLORES), Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Wende (IÖR) and Dr. André Lindner (TU Dresden)
At one of the world’s most important biodiversity conferences, CBD-COP 15 in Montreal, new targets for the conservation of this vital resource were negotiated. Its results must now be implemented at national and regional level.
In the seminar series "Saxon Dialogue on Biodiversity", the three institutions, UNU-FLORES, TU Dresden and IÖR, worked to raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity at the regional level in Saxony and beyond. While the public was at the centre of this dialogue, the Interim Dresden Nexus Conference 2023 (DNCi-2023) invites high-level experts from academia, industry, agriculture, political institutions and civil society to discuss how the results of COP15 can be implemented in Saxony and beyond.
By bringing these actors together at regional and national level, the DNCi promotes dialogue on how Nexus thinking contributes to the achievement of the 30x30 goal as the most important outcome of COP15.
What opportunities does Saxony have to assume regional responsibility in order to support the fulfilment of national obligations? Not least, the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires a profound transformation towards strengthening sustainability, not only in its environmental but also in its economic and social dimensions.

On the one hand, digitalisation and sustainability are the two central challenges of the 21st century, but on the other hand, they are usually examined and discussed separately from each other.
The workshop will therefore first analyse the risks and opportunities that arise from various facets of digitalisation for sustainable development to be pursued in the broad sense. Both the physical aspects (e. g. energy and resource consumption) and the social aspects (e. g. informational self-determination, digital sovereignty) are considered. Based on the analysis phase, options for action for the individual level as well as for decisions at different structural levels are discussed.
In addition to prepared input, there will be ample opportunity for interactive participation in all phases of the workshop. Carrying digital terminals, preferably with a keyboard, is useful for this purpose.

Because sustainability also includes the sustainability of human relationships:
Taster course and some background on nonviolent communication after Rosenberg (NVC)
From home and our surroundings we have learned a certain way of dealing with other opinions: retreating, splashing out, attacking is the best defense or seeking compromises etc. .
NVC takes a different approach. With NVC you can learn to pay attention to what is really important to you / what you can stand for. On the other hand, you also have to learn to find out what is important to your other person, even if they expresse themself in a completely different way. ("I hear something you're not saying.")
NVC is about courage. It is more a concept of life than just a method of communication. And certainly not flushed.
In two separately attended sessions of 1. 5 - 2 hours each you will hear a little background on NVC and then practice seeing the world differently and practicing reacting to it differently. Because:
"Not the environment, not heredity, but the personal response is ultimately the decisive factor in our lives. And here lies our responsibility!" – Martin Luther King

Since 2014, Ines Herrmann has been working as a singer-songwriter and has released four EPs and two albums since then. This summer she is touring Germany together with multi-instrumentalist Zannahh to celebrate the release of their joint studio album “Someone like you”. Stylistically, Ines Herrmann works in the field of Acoustic Folk/Folk Rock/Singer Songwriter, but does not shy away from contact with other styles without losing her own distinctive signature. Starting with a few guitar chords and an enchanting voice, sometimes solo, sometimes accompanied, she can look back on numerous band projects. Her songs are about everyday things – love, longing, search, interpersonal – and like no other artist she manages to dress these in simple words and harmonious melodies that resonate in her mind for a long time.

We are at the end of the age of expansion – and we need a new narrative for the next step. The limitations of our Earth collide with the reality and necessity of rapid social development. If we accept that both are harsh realities, then we face a dilemma of limitation and dynamism. The desperate, though understandable, call for renunciation and reconsideration is helpless and ineffective, because it does not solve the dilemma. The mathematical principle of folding could provide this solution, for it allows infinite development in a finite world through growth into diversity. Not growth into more, but growth into diversity. This is not theoretical, but very practical – be it in the context of European emissions trading or corporate tax.

Climate change has become a global emergency, and mental health effects are increasingly being described and understood. Vulnerable groups, especially those in low-income countries and minority communities, are particularly experiencing the worst impacts of climate change. This talk will be presented the work of early career mental health clinicians and researchers in culturally and socioeconomically different countries across the continents. According to research, there is a dire need for more specific psychiatric education and for advancing global and local efforts in this direction. The three main domains of the mental health impact of climate change will also be presented: direct, indirect, and physical conditions, based on our research results.
