Numerous initiatives at TU Dresden are promoting the topic of sustainability. There is something in it for everyone - whether you are a student, want to help shaping biodiversity or education, want to work in committees or want to become a sustainability ambassador at TU Dresden.
Groups of the Environment Commission
The University Executive Board has set itself the goal of pursuing a consistent environmental policy for TU Dresden and incorporating environmental protection as a key topic into all organizational units of the university. The Environment Commission's task is to advise the University Executive Board on environmental issues and to promote the implementation of environmental protection. Every student and staff member at TU Dresden is welcome to join the working groups dedicated to the topics of biodiversity, climate protection, education for sustainable development, research, photovoltaics, digitalization and mobility. Sustainability ambassadors at TU Dresden
Are you interested in sustainability and would you like to promote it at TU Dresden, in your faculty or in your office? Become a sustainability ambassador at TU Dresden! TU Dresden’s Student Environmental Initiative (tuuwi)
TU Dresden’s Student Environmental Initiative (tuuwi) provides information about environmental protection at TU Dresden to the student body and incorporates them into its work. tuuwi organizes the environmental education lecture series and conducts projects on various topics related to the environment at TU Dresden. RepairCafé
The first RepairCafé at TU Dresden was hosted in collaboration with the RepairCafé Dresden/Freital Initiative at the beginning of 2020. Since spring 2022, the Initiative has regularly held RepairCafés in collaboration with the SLUB Makerspace. At the RepairCafé, you can fix broken everyday items with expert assistance in a temporary DIY workshop. All are welcome to get involved with the RepairCafé and help others with their repairs. FUN – FRAUENUMWELTNETZWERK
The FrauenUmweltNetzwerk (in English: Women in Environmental Sciences Network, or FUN for short) is a platform for addressing the difficulties that women encounter in everyday university life, as well as for finding solutions and developing possible courses of action together. The network supports women in the Faculty at the earliest possible stage in their career, so that they can enter the university environment and the job market with confidence. Rad i.O
The Rad i.O. (in English: Bike is ok) is a student-run bicycle DIY workshop where volunteer mechanics have been helping to repair bikes for over three decades. From patching flats and centering wheels to replacing frames, we can do pretty much any repair work on your bike.
We are a DIY workshop, which means you repair your bike yourself and we are there to help and advise you. Oil-smeared hands and new skills guaranteed! Bicycle DIY workshop
Civil Engineering Sustainability Group
The Civil Engineering Sustainability Group is a university group that addresses issues relating to the sustainable transformation of the construction industry. These include alternative building materials, the use and reduction of resources, refurbishment of existing buildings, sustainable new construction, healthy living, well-being, and social issues in construction. The Civil Engineering Sustainability Group unites students from all semesters and specializations of the Faculty of Civil Engineering. For more than ten years, students from various departments have been campaigning for human rights worldwide in the Dresden university group. Through information booths, evenings of discussion, lectures, theater performances and concerts, they provide information about the situation of people in various countries. As part of Engineers Without Borders, our aim as a university group is to promote development cooperation on an equal footing in the areas of water and energy supply, educational institutions and civil infrastructure. elbe Model United Nations (elbMUN)
Elbe Model United Nations e.V. (elbMUN) is a non-profit, student-run association that aims to organize an international, multi-day UN simulation, which usually takes place in the Saxon State Parliament in Dresden, Germany. During the conference, participants represent a country's delegation in selected UN councils or committees, debating and negotiating resolutions on the world's most pressing challenges. elbMUN
