TU Dresden starts again with its own team for "Stadtradeln 2025"
The "CITY CYCLING - Cycling for a good climate" campaign is taking place in Dresden for the 15th time. From September 1 to 21, 2025, all Dresdeners are invited to cycle as many distances as possible in a climate-friendly way and collect kilometers for their team, their municipality and the promotion of cycling. TU Dresden is also taking part again. University members can register for the "TU Dresden" team at stadtradeln.de/dresden. As the years before, sub-teams are possible.
With the CITY CYCLING app, the routes cycled can be easily tracked via GPS. This data will also be made available to a research team from the Friedrich List Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences by a spin-off of the faculty. The tracked journeys are evaluated anonymously and used by various city administrations, as Dresden, to optimize the cycling infrastructure. For example, it is possible to identify which routes are chosen particularly frequently by cyclists, where they travel slower or faster or at which traffic lights they often have to wait a long time. As an alternative to recording with the app, the kilometers cycled can also be entered manually via the website, as always. However, this data cannot then be evaluated to optimize the cycling infrastructure.
The Germany-wide CITY CYCLING competition is a campaign of the Climate Alliance, of which the city of Dresden is a member. The aim of the campaign is to make a contribution to climate protection, to set an example for more cycling in Dresden, to promote health through more exercise and to discover the fun of cycling.
