The smartest night of the year: TU Dresden participates in the Dresden Science Night on June 20, 2025 with over 200 events

At TUD, 212 events await visitors to the 22nd Dresden Science Night.
It’s that time again on June 20: Come discover, participate, and be amazed at the Dresden Science Night at TUD Dresden University of Technology! From 5:00 pm, young and old can experiment, ask questions, and make new discoveries at 212 free events. For the 22th time, this evening devoted entirely to science showcases the diversity of TUD and the fascinating research taking place here. You'll be spoilt for choice of places where you can get involved!
Here are just a few highlights from our program at TUD:
Illuminating and understandable: In lecture hall 4 (4th floor) of TUD's Auditorium Center (Bergstr. 64), scientists from the Faculty of Physics reveal the amazing, the bizarre, and the always fascinating secrets of quantum physics.
Lights, camera, action: Researchers have ten minutes to win the favor of the audience at the Science Slam. Expect to be inspired as scientists explain their research topics in a vivid, funny and surprising way.
Discovering agriculture: Drive a tractor on campus – at the test stands of the Chair of Agricultural Systems Technology! Learning about grain harvesting from yesteryear to the present day is included. You can even drive trains, fly airplanes and test excavators in simulations.
Filling the silence: Reverberation chambers, 500 loudspeakers, sound-absorbing booths and sound-absorbing cladding – all this awaits visitors to TU Dresden's acoustics laboratory.
Are all our bridges in a state of disrepair? Bridge expert Prof. Steffen Marx from TUD’s Institute of Concrete Structures gives us a look behind the scenes of the investigation into the collapse of the Carola Bridge and the solutions that scientists at TUD are working on.
State-of-the-art computing: In addition to a guided tour of the ZIH high-performance data center with the supercomputer, visitors to Barkhausen Building forecourt can experience touch across distance with the Tactile Internet. Visitors' hand signals and gestures can also be used to control a robot dog.
Events taking place outside of TUD Campus|Südvorstadt
A trip underground to understand the processes of the sun: In Dresden’s Felsenkeller, TUD, in close cooperation with the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), operates a particle accelerator in two historic tunnels to investigate processes of nuclear fusion – the energy principle of the sun.
Ravenous scavenger cells and living drugs are just waiting to be discovered at the CMCB on the Johannstadt Campus. Novel technologies and research results for computer-assisted and robot-assisted surgery in the operating theater of tomorrow will be presented at the NCT/UCC Dresden. You can also try out your own skills on the laparoscopy trainer at the Clinic for Vascular Surgery.
The COSMO Forum is hosting a political speed dating event and a translation of professional skills into ESCO, a multilingual classification of European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations developed by the EU Commission.
