Senior Citizens in Saxony connected to the digital world: Project 'Digitally Together' is entering the third round
The consortium project “Digitally Together “ of TU Dresden is entering the third round: In the two previous projects, more than 100 volunteer technology ambassadors were trained to help senior citizens in Saxony regarding all their questions about mobile phones and tablets. Now, the Saxon State Ministry of Social Affairs and Social Cohesion has approved a one-year continuation. The goal is to further expand and strengthen local counseling and training services for seniors. While locations such as Dresden, Leipzig and Görlitz already offer extensive services, many areas in Saxony have not yet been covered by the project.
Martin Schuster, a Research Associate in the project, would like to change that: "New qualification opportunities for prospective local technology ambassadors are to be created with the help of our partners. These can be young people, but also older people with an affinity for technology who can help seniors in the future with questions about video calls, social media, online banking and more. Individual options will be available for this purpose, entirely based on their needs: from one-time individual counseling to regular meetings." In addition to methodological and didactic content, the training also includes the ability to design offers tailored to the target group.
The project "Digitally Together 3" is a collaboration of the Center for Digital Innovation and Participation (CODIP) of TU Dresden with various associations and organizations in Saxony. The aim of the project is to promote digital literacy and inclusion as well as to facilitate active participation in digital life among seniors in Saxony.
