TU Dresden Supports Call for Participation in the Human Chain on 13th February
Under the motto "Divided History – Shared Future", the Lord Mayor of the City of Dresden, members of City Council, representatives from business, science, culture, the arts, sports, trade unions, the Jewish community, churches, as well as community activists invite all Dresden citizens to unite and take action on 13th February 2019.
As a private individual, the Rector of TU Dresden, Prof. Hans Müller-Steinhagen, is once again taking an active role in the 2019 human chain event and has registered the demonstration: "In recent years, Dresden has often been perceived and described as a divided city. However, different backgrounds and experiences must not skew a mutual interest in a democratic and peaceful future – as well as in a respectful and cosmopolitan coexistence. The human chain on 13th February is not only an act of remembrance but also an opportunity to highlight the shared responsibility that the people of Dresden have for their city."
To start the event, Prof. Hans Müller-Steinhagen and Lord Mayor Dirk Hilbert will hold a short address in front of Neues Rathaus, Goldene Pforte (New City Hall, Golden Gate) at 5 pm. The participants will then close the human chain at 6 pm.
