PD funds Endowed Chair of Resource-Efficient Building Design
Sustainable construction that uses the least resources possible – particularly in the public sector – can contribute greatly to achieving the goals of the 2015 Paris Agreement. Against this backdrop, PD – a public-sector consultancy – has made a pledge to specifically support research and education in this area. On August 29, 2022, Stéphane Beemelmans, Managing Director of PD, and Prof. Ursula M. Staudinger, Rector of Technische Universität Dresden (TUD), signed an agreement governing the funding of an Endowed Chair of Resource-Efficient Building Design.
The Chair endowed by PD for 6 years will belong to the Faculty of Civil Engineering and plans are set for its work to coincide with that of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences on an interdisciplinary level. The goal of the PD Endowed Chair is to strengthen research and education for greater sustainability and efficient use of resources in the constructive design of solid structures. Now that the endowment agreement has been signed, the Chair is expected to become operational in the 2023 summer semester.
