Using Erasmus+ funding in a targeted manner for personnel development, internationalization and intercultural competence building
The Erasmus+ themed seminar "Staff mobility - broadening horizons, strengthening skills" currently taking place at TU Dresden aims to draw the universities' attention to the many positive aspects of staff mobility.
Organized by the Leonardo Office Saxony and the International Office of the TUD, more than 100 experts from all over Germany have been exchanging views on the current challenges and developments in staff mobility in Dresden since yesterday (2 April 2025).
Dr. Stephan Geifes, Director of the National Agency for EU Higher Education Cooperation at the DAAD(NA DAAD), opened the event by welcoming the participants with a presentation by Prof. Roswitha Böhm, Vice-Rector University Culture, on how staff mobility is used at the various universities. According to Geifes, sustainable and inclusive staff mobility - also and especially from the non-academic sector - must become the rule and must not remain an exception. The potential of this instrument for personnel development is often underestimated. International experience strengthens innovative power, intercultural sensitivity, language skills and the formation of networks, which in turn increase the visibility and cooperation opportunities of the home universities.
Today on Day 2, Wencke Pertermann, Project Coordinator of the SprInt program, will present the SprInt program of the Technical University in a keynote speech. SprInt is an innovative training programme for the linguistic and intercultural qualification of university staff as part of Internationalization@Home. The presentation provides insights into the structure, objectives and implementation of the programme and shows how internationalization can be promoted without physical mobility.
But SprInt also offers "classic" staff mobility for TUD employees - information here: https: //tu-dresden.de/internationales/profil/sprint-programm/Auslandsaufenthalt
