On December 1, Prof. Antonio Hurtado took office as the new President of the private Dresden International University (DIU), an affiliated institute of TU Dresden (TUD). 

Born in 1959 in Puertollano, Spain, Prof. Hurtado brings a wealth of academic and practical experience to this position. From 2017 to 2020, he was the Vice-Rector for University Development at TU Dresden and previously served as the Director of the Institute of Power Engineering at TUD. Since 2007, he has been the Chair of Hydrogen and Nuclear Energy.

"As DIU President, I will contribute my years of experience in the academic and business sectors and help shape DIU into a modern university for continuing education - both nationally and internationally. The strategic consolidation of the existing good partnership and synergies with TU Dresden is of particular importance to me, as it is imperative to advance Dresden as both a University of Excellence and business location," says Prof. Hurtado, explaining his objectives.

TUD congratulates Prof. Hurtado on his new position and looks forward to working with him to intensify the cooperation with DIU.
