Record-breaking: This year, TUD is supporting 343 talented students with Deutschlandstipendium scholarships
TU Dresden is delighted to be able to award 343 Deutschlandstipendium scholarships this year. That is a new record. The German public-private scholarship program started in 2011 with 150 sponsored students. After some ups and downs in the following years, the number of scholarships awarded has risen steadily since 2017. In 2023, as many as 323 students benefited from the funding. The latest record underlines TUD's strong and sustained commitment to promoting promising talent and academic excellence.
Sponsors include private individuals as well as associations, foundations and companies. The latter mainly support students in STEM subjects, while private individuals and associations focus on the social sciences and humanities. This variety enables scholarships for all academic disciplines at TU Dresden. In addition to academic achievements, commitment and social criteria also play a decisive role when scholarship holders are selected. They receive EUR 300 per month; half of the sum coming from donations, and the other half from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The Deutschlandstipendium is initially awarded for one year, but can be extended annually until the end of the standard period of study.
For the first time in years, a live scholarship party was held on April 16 at the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD). It provided new and old scholarship holders as well as their sponsors with the opportunity to meet up and get to know each other. 250 scholarship holders and sponsors attended to celebrate the outstanding achievements and commitment of our students.
