TU Dresden has been re-certified as a family-friendly university
TU Dresden has once again been certified as a family-friendly university. Just as in 2007, 2010 and 2013 TU Dresden has received the award as part of the “audit family-friendly university”. The re-certification serves the purpose of an external review of the existing family-friendly measures and the structured and quality-orientated further developments of said measures.
Family friendliness is an important and decision-driving building block for the success of TU Dresden, since modern work and study conditions form the fundamental basis for outstanding academic performance. Especially as a “University of Excellence”, TU Dresden strives to ensure that it maintains its attractiveness for the brightest of minds. It is therefore a pivotal aspect of its strategy to support its members in balancing work and academic life. “Family” does not only mean parenthood but also comprises looking after relatives in need of care. To this purpose, TU Dresden provides numerous offers of support to its students and staff. These offers are expanded on a continuous basis.

The aims and measure of the family-friendly TU Dresden are enshrined in the target agreement of the “audit family-friendly university” (2016-2019):
In addition, the “Diversity Days” at TU Dresden will take place from the 7th until 10th of November with the headline “Family Inclusive”. During the Diversity Days the family situation of students and staff with children as well as the situation of those caring for relatives is highlighted. During a plethora of barrier-free events the everyday reality of families is made visible. On 9th November at the INFO-PLAZA in the Andreas-Pfitzmann building (Faculty of Computer Science), guests can obtain information and counselling as to how to successfully balance academic and family life. Further highlights are the “Night of Short Films” on the topic of “family” on 8th November at 8pm in the “Kino im Kasten” cinema and the “Parent-Child Football Tournament” on 10th November (registration required)
