With the ceremonial opening of its Advanced Teacher Training Academy on December 2, 2025, TU Dresden is providing a significant impetus for the professionalization of teachers in Saxony. Beyond its core role in initial teacher education in the first phase of teacher training, the university will in future bundle its activities in continuing education and training for teachers of all school types under a common umbrella brand. This will integrate the “third phase” of teacher training, namely actual professional activity, into the structure of the Center for Teacher Education and Educational Research (ZLSB) as part of the knowledge transfer between universities and school practice. In the future, teachers will be able to engage in ongoing dialogue with leading researchers about the latest scientific findings from research and development through training courses, and directly pass these insights on to their students in the classroom. This marks an exemplary milestone of lifelong learning at TU Dresden. In this context, TU Dresden is once again cooperating closely with the Saxony State Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs (SMK) and the State Office for Schools and Education (LaSuB).
