Business as a school subject - Faculty of Business and Economics offers exciting insights
The Faculty of Business and Economics at TU Dresden supports secondary schools in implementing the school-specific "Entrepreneurial Education" profile, which has been available since this school year. The new curriculum not only places a stronger focus on economic understanding, but also lays the foundation for a successful professional future for students.
At the invitation of the State Office for Schools and Education (LaSuB), 25 teachers from Dresden and the surrounding area gathered at TU Dresden on 27.08.2025 to find out about this innovative opportunity.
In his welcoming address, the Dean of Studies of the Faculty of Business and Economics, Prof. Dr. Peter Schäfer, highlighted the relevance of Business Administration and Economics for society and the need for future students and professionals to have an understanding of economics. The establishment of the curriculum also opens up the prospect for grammar schools to anchor vocational orientation more firmly in a school subject than before.
The event focused on the presentation of the new "Entrepreneurial Education" curriculum by the Saxon State Ministry of Culture as well as a practical example from the Chair of Business Education and Management Training. Anja Rogas, research associate at the Chair, gave a practical presentation on her experiences using a business game that students have been offering at Tolkewitz Grammar School since 2023.
TU Dresden supports teachers with a wide range of formats to make it easier for school classes and interested pupils to find their way around studies and careers. In addition to offers for study orientation, teachers will find a wide range of science communication offers that make current research tangible for the young target group. TU Dresden's school contact point acts as a central point of contact for teachers, arranging appropriate contacts and implementing and developing formats with schools.
