Between conservatism and radical change
Author: D. B.
The political culture of the Federal Republic of Germany is in crisis, and not only since the electoral success of the AfD. That is the view of the organizers of the Lingner-Podium event series run by the Förderverein Lingnerschloss association. “On the one hand, we are observing increasing signs of political disenchantment and xenophobia within the population (see the ‘Sachsen-Monitor 2017’ survey), yet at the same time, Dresden has recently seen lively discussions on contemporary history.” The panel on September 19, 2018 will be exploring the history, current signals, and possible interpretations of a public, political debate between conservatism and radical change. Invited speakers will be touching on everything from issues of schooling and the media to our everyday experience of politics. The experts on the panel are:
- Frank Richter, formerly of the Sächsische Landeszentrale für politische Bildung
- Dr. Franziska Kunz, TU Dresden, Institute of Political Science
- Prof. Joachim Fischer, TU Dresden, Institute of Sociology
The discussion will be facilitated by the publicist Hans-Peter Lühr.
