2022 saw the launch of a platform that uses interactive formats to explore the links between artificial intelligence (AI) and socially relevant topics. The project is being implemented as part of the equality strategy of the Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (ScaDS.AI) Dresden/Leipzig in collaboration with the Research Area Responsible AI.
What is ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig?
The Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (ScaDS.AI) Dresden/Leipzig is a center for artificial intelligence funded as part of the federal government's AI strategy. The AI Competence Center will conduct research on 17 research topics in five interlinked areas of AI, big data and data science. The focus will be on the rapid transfer of research results into scientific and business applications. The transfer and service center serves as a key factor for new collaborations and successful transfer activities in numerous projects in science and industry.
What is our concern?
Our thematic priorities in this project are

- participatory justice
- Sustainability and cultural diversity
On the one hand, a qualitative-explorative study is being conducted with various developers at ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig. An interview guide was developed for this purpose, which integrates the core topics mentioned above.
On the other hand, we use various event formats to inform and discuss the diverse possibilities, but also limits of AI and its influence on social processes with a focus on the group of users inside and outside the university campus. Various methods of sustainable learning are used in all interactions. It is also important to us to organize and conduct an open and international dialogue on the challenges of integrating AI into different societies and cultural milieus within the framework conditions of global tensions.
All of this takes place in the PILLARS & UMBRELLAS series of events.
The results of both strands of activity will be fed back to each other in the spirit of the transfer idea.
