Prof. Dr. phil. habil. Gerd Schwerhoff
- Gerd Schwerhoff studied history, sociology and education at the Universities of Cologne and Bielefeld.
- He then worked as a Research Associate and later as a Research Assistant (doctorate in 1989, habilitation in 1997).
- From 1998 to 2000 he was a Heisenberg Fellow of the German Research Foundation (DFG).
- Since April 1, 2000, he has held the Chair of Early Modern History at the TU Dresden.
- Prof. Gerd Schwerhoff has extensive experience in academic self-administration and the supervision of academic projects. He was Managing Director of the Institute of History at TU Dresden several times in 2001/02, 2008/09 and 2013/14, and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science from 2003 to 2006 and 2012 to 2015. He is the course coordinator for the history degree courses.
- From 2002 to 2009, Prof. Schwerhoff was spokesperson of the European Graduate School 625 "Institutional Orders, Writing and Symbols", from 2001 to 2008 he was sub-project leader in the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 537 "Institutionality and Historicity" and from 2009 to 2013 sub-project leader, head of the Integrated Research Training Group and deputy spokesperson in the CRC 804 "Transcendence and Common Sense". Since 2017, he has been spokesperson of the CRC 1285 "Invectivity. Constellations and Dynamics of Disparagement".
- From 2007 to 2011, he represented his field as an elected member of the DFG Review Board 102 "Historical Sciences".
