Responsibilities
The Rector heads TU Dresden and is the university's representative in the public domain. She is the Chairperson of the Extended University Executive Board and determines the strategy guiding the university's research and teaching. The Rector is elected by the Extended Senate for a term of five years.

The tasks of the Academic Committees department include the supervision of university committees, Rectorate meetings, university elections and TU Dresden memberships. Academic Committees is also the point of contact for organizational unit regulations and their approval checks, for membership law issues and student body matters.
Tasks
- Supervision of the university committees Senate, Extended Senate, Standing Committees of the Senate, Rectorate Committees
- Accompanying the consultations between the representatives of the member groups in the Senate and the university management
- Supporting the meetings of the University Executive Board
- Drafting of regulations, approval review for Institute and Faculty regulations and advice on their preparation
- University prizes, announcements of prizes
- Supervision and implementation of elections to university committees
- Student body matters
- Memberships of TU Dresden in national and international committees and organizations
- Supervision of procedures for granting membership rights and affiliation rights at the university
- Electoral responsibility for DFG review board elections
