Project Management Office (PMO)
Table of contents
As part of the Division of the Chancellor, the Project Management Office reports directly to and is supervised by the Chancellor. The Project Management Office coordinates and implements projects of strategic importance to the university.
Their tasks cover a wide range of projects, including major projects such as the establishment of the German Center for Astrophysics (DZA) as part of the structural change project in Lusatia. The PMO ensures the efficient coordination of all stakeholders involved. Its working methods are closely interlinked with the specialist departments.
Establishment of the German Center for Astrophysics (DZA)
With the German Center for Astrophysics (DZA), a new national research center with international appeal is being established in Saxony, funded by the federal and state governments.
Until it achieves institutional independence, the TUD and DESY has assumed project sponsorship and will remain linked to the DZA in the long term via core professorships and relevant study programs as well as jointly used technology platforms. This will manifest itself, among other things, in a new Master's degree course in Astrophysics, Digital Science and Technology. The course will be largely supported by five new professorships in physics, computer science and electrical engineering. They will play an important and permanent bridging role between the DZA and TUD.

New Work & New Building
In the "New Work and New Building" project, the TUD is dedicated to modern and flexible forms of work organization and workplace design at the TU Dresden. In the first phase of the project, the foundations for a university-wide New Work concept are being developed. It addresses the optimization and redesign of existing buildings as well as the construction planning and design of new research buildings.
New Work will find its way into all areas of the TUD, in research, research support as well as in studies, teaching and university culture.
The project is supported by professors of architecture, technical design, physics and sociology.
Agile university administration and staff development
Agile administration and academic support are the guiding principles of the staff development program for employees in technology, administration and academic support. The objectives of the project include
- To develop new job profiles and skills pools
- Develop new career paths within the TUD
- Expansion of e-learning offerings (e.g. export control)
