Unit Strategy

Unit Strategy supports the Extended University Executive Board in matters of the university’s strategic positioning. Our job is to advance and actively shape the development of TU Dresden (TUD) into a globally-oriented and at the same time regionally-anchored, university of excellence for the 21st century.
Tasks
Development of TUD strategy
- Our primary task is to plan and coordinate the strategy development process at TU Dresden, including drafting strategy-related documentation (currently: “TUD’s overall strategy for 2026–2033”). As an ongoing task, the strategy process is cyclical in its design. The actual planning takes into particular consideration elements which are participative and which promote innovation (e.g. Future Labs)
- Consultation on the development of select sub-strategies
Implementing the TUD strategy
- Content and financial management of the University of Excellence program
(EXU; 2nd funding line of the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments) - Development of contacts in politics (creating and broadening a network as well as maintaining contacts, organizing discussion platforms, researching and classifying information)
- Collaboration on (change) projects
Following up on analysis and strategy implementation
- Performance and processing of analyses and evaluations (e.g. study on regional-economic significance of TU Dresden; internal and external evaluation of the EXU program; SWOT analysis; evaluation of studies, reports and political position papers)
- Monitoring and analysis of university rankings
- Head office of the International Strategy Council (ISC) advisory committee
